After disassembling it and gazing it in operation, I no longericed a misguided electrical joinion which used to be causing arcing to occur between two wires, crimped into a single joinor which used to be connected to the heating component. This was once causing the insulation on the wires and the plastic sheath across the joinor to soften. Had it continued to be used, it'll have started a hearth.
